HISTORY
Woodhall Spa & District Flower Club was formed in 1959.
2022:
With our normal programme resumed members enjoyed a varied programme of events with both Area and National Demonstrators. Members also staged two large exhibits as part of the Lincoln Cathedral Flower Festival in the Nave and Cloisters which were well received by fellow flower arrangers and visitors to the festival.
With all classes entered in the Lincolnshire Show Floral Art competition the club was rewarded with joint 1st place in the Challenge Cup. The Best use of Garden Material and Best use of Colour trophies were also awarded to members of the club.
Fund raising continued with a private screening for members at the Kinema in the Woods along with Plant Stalls and generous donations to our Sales Table.
Lastly we marked the sad passing of one of our founder members Mrs Mollie Elliott and our out going Chairman Mrs Margaret Horton.
2021:
Following Government restrictions, we were unable to meet in person until August this year. However, our intrepid Committee kept in touch by phone and emails to keep us up to date and also provided regular monthly zoom demonstrations! They delivered our magazines and kept us informed until we finally made it back to the Petwood Hotel in August. We have had our regular, successful demonstrations for the second half of the year and members have thoroughly enjoyed meeting up in a safe way. We continue to follow guidelines and hope that everyone continues to stay safe. We resume our normal programme from March in 2022.
2020:
Almost 100 members attended the AGM lunch at the Petwood Hotel on Monday 2 March. Sadly we were unable to meet in person during the year, but we held a Zoom Christmas demonstration in December which was attended by 62 members - wonderful to see one another albeit online!
2019:
Our Diamond Anniversary! We celebrated in style with an Afternoon Tea at the Petwood on Monday 21 October. Catherine Gledhill presented 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend' to a sell out audience. The Petwood Hotel provided a fabulous afternoon tea with brilliant service as always.
With a clean sweep of points at Lincolnshire Show, we won back the Overall Trophy.
Diamond Competition in September - Results on the 'News' page!
2018:
Members competed at local County Shows and we had two Club Exhibit evenings which were well supported by members.
A trip to Harrogate Autumn Show and a great afternoon film at The Kinema in the Woods also well supported by members and friends.
December Charity Donation to the local 'Get Away' group of £400.
2017:
Successful year at the Lincolnshire Show, second overall and Peoples' Choice award for our main club exhibit.
December Charity donation: £2,000 Teenage Cancer Unit, Weston Park Hospital, Sheffield.
2016:
Continued success at the Lincolnshire Show 2016
